Don’t be tempted by tanning beds-

Since the 1980s, people started to fake and bake in tanning beds, only to create more dangers of tanning. Tanning beds emit more UVA rays in a shorter period of time than the sun does .
While UVA rays may not burn like UVB rays, they penetrate the skin deeper, putting you at greater risk for premature aging and skin cancer. Tanning beds can also damage your eye sight and immune system, and if not properly sanitized, can be a haven for bacteria.
If you can be a bottled blond, you can have a bottled tan. To achieve the golden look minus the wrinkles and chance of skin cancer later, try tanning lotions or spray-on tans instead of the tanning beds. Tanning lotions contain the ingredient dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, which oxidizes on the skin’s outermost layer, creating the look of a tan. Unsightly streaks are usually not a problem with today's self-tanning lotions, but to ensure a more even tone it is best to exfoliate with a loofah prior to application.

You are what you eat! Part one

Start by taking a good multi-vitamin once a day that has all the basic vitamin groups, especially the anti-oxidants A,C and E and the B vitamins; and minerals, look for skin friendly selenium, copper and zinc. Take extra zinc if you are prone to acne.
Avoid fatty snacks and carbonated beverages (that’s right! Drink more water). Try fruits and veggies. Now you can buy them fresh cut and bagged and ready to eat so no excuses! Pass on the milk, cheese and red meat. The cows get so many hormones and other boosters these days, who needs theirs when we have our own hormonal issues? And of course, say “no” to fried foods and processed breads.
It’s all a matter of choices. When you start making conscious choices-water instead of that cola, chicken instead of red meat, an apple instead of …well, you get the picture. Little by little it gets easier and the pay-off is huge. You’ll feel and look great.
